I have a Westone Quantum (32" headless) with the 'Magnflux' pick ups. Staggering output level - equal to my active basses, and an excellent range of tones from two pick-ups, two volumes and a shared tone control. Probably the favourite tone of all my basses.

I used one of thiose for a few years early on. Sold an early 70s P top get it(a very nice bass too). It was awesome; played great, sounded great, felt great (although I had a tendency to turn the knobs off due to their close proximity to my picking hand - had to tape them all up!). You know, in the years I had it I never realised it was a medium scale. Explains a lot!

I still have the Spectrum DX I got second-hand in 1988. The only fault I've ever been able to find with it is neck dive. Aside from that, it's great to play, sturdy and I've always really liked the sound of the Magnabass II (?) pickup.

There's also a nice black unlined fretless Thunder 1-A for sale over at Ebay: http://www.ebay.co.u...8a3b7a6

Westones are beautiful and amazing to play! I would really like a Thunder IIa, the version with 2 precision style pups and the xlr output if anyone has one to sell...........

My second 'proper' bass was a Westone Thunder IIa - it followed an Ibanez Blazer P-bass...

I will always regret selling that monster.

I have just picked up a Thunder III fretless so happy days B)

I swapped a Jap strat for a Westone ThunderIII in the early 90's, (definately came off better from that deal !) it has a through neck with a beautiful 'C' shape.

It's a bit on the heavy side, but I'll stay in my collection for years to come. I did have a black Thunder 1A fretless on loan for a while - one of the meanest basses I've ever seen, georgeous.
