-Virtue-
I used to have a plexi guitar in my late teens/early 20's (which would have made it early/mid 70's) - made by Shaftsbury, copied from the Dan Armstrong original. At the time it was the nicest guitar I'd owned by a distance. I do remember it being quite heavy though - looks like a lot of acrylic on that flying V.
yeah its about as heavy as a bass, ive got a nice thick padded strap though so its not really that bad, damn thing was a nightmare when i got it though! I ordered it off ebay from America and it came broke and looked like it had water damage from sitting in a warehouse, the lower strap button was sheered off due to rust! luckily the chaps who sold it me on ebay refunded $100 dollars! that went straight back into drilling a new straphole and setting the guitar up. Andyjr1515
This is my latest build. It's a thru-neck SG built for our old-gits-band's bassist, Pete. Mahogany back, Burl Maple top, Mahogany/Walnut/Mahogany neck, Ebony fingerboard and Ebony headstock plate with mother of pearl inlay. The colour is red calligraphy ink. P/Ups are Tonerider Classic IV's. Passed it across to Pete a couple of weeks ago - he's well chuffed with it. Thanks for looking: Edited November 22, 2013 by Andyjr1515

Just masked a thin strip with a car self-stick 'go-faster-stripe' from Halfords when I was inking the top.

Andyjr1515
That is just gorgeous! Any more info on the pickups/sound?
It has Tonerider Classic IV's in it. Chosen, I have to say, in preference to Burstbucker Pros that Pete (who it was for) was perfectly happy to pay for. I fitted some Toneriders into a friend's cheapo Les Paul, and it sounded better (by his own admission) than his genuine Gibson Les Paul Custom. Based on this, I suggested to Pete that paying less than 1/2 the cost of Gibsons for something that sounded just as good was possibly a shrewd move! I've got some clips here on Soundcloud - forgive my rubbish playing: https://soundcloud.com/andy-rogers-6/sg-clean-neck-neck-bridge https://soundcloud.com/andy-rogers-6/burl-maple-sg-dirty-neck-neck Thanks for the encouraging feedback, folks Andy

DaytonaRik
My main guitar - Patrick Eggle Berlin Pro Elite. They were always seen as a poor-mans PRS but I chose this over a Custom 24 as I preferred the neck joint and feel of the neck plus you could visit the factory and get the luthiers to 'tweak' things, neck profiles, tops and they had stacks of good advice re what to look for in wood blanks etc. Edited December 5, 2013 by DaytonaRik

ezbass
There's 3 posts with equally lovely guitars featured; I do like the Steve Morse model (and the man himself), the Eggles were hugely underrated and just as nice as PRS, just poor timing ensured they didn't do better IMO and the 'burst on that LP is lovely. Really nice chaps, congrats on owning such tasty instruments. Edited December 6, 2013 by ezbass
I know! I asked for understated because all the custom stuff I'd seen of theirs had lots of pearloid and ivory etc. Roger at Fylde said it would be a shame to go all out on a custom and make it look plain, but he knew what I meant by understated elegance... I think he nailed it! As I said, I've honestly never seen ANYTHING like this. Quite literally the best made instrument I've ever played and seen, let alone owned! ezbass
I want one of these but as playing guitar is just a home pastime these days it's just too much moolah; nice though, well at least IMO. merello
Further from post 199..... Fender Thinline Cabronita Shoreline Gold. Classic Prayer Series. Great deal in Merchant City Music so I bought the tweed case too. Really lovely axe for what it is designed to do. In my work, we have a wee band with staff and pupils. A teacher skipped using his PRS SE SC and a pupil his US Strat (as used by Judas Priest) to use it in a gig. Funnily enough, both commented on how you can really tell an American Fender until I showed them the 'MiM' on the headstock! A keeper. I have a 1 in, 1 out rule in the home - 1 electric, 1 bass and 1 acoustic but if I ever hanker after another guitar this one is getting hidden.
