leftybassman392
I quite like it - or at least I would if they made one that I could f***ing play! But then I'm a big Tele fan generally - a seriously underrated instrument. Just 'cos it's short on bells & whistles doesn't mean it's not good at it's job. Like it or not, it's a design classic. There. I've said it.
velvetkevorkian
I don't think the telecaster baritone really works as a concept imo.
Chuck a Bareknuckle p'up in the bridge and tune it to drop G?

bigsmokebass
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=KHUb-V3HUzM Good sample of what Gibson came up with last year. For me, check out buckethead, he plays a custom les Paul which is a 28" scale, instead of a 25.5 or 30". Sounds immense. James Hetfield has used one too But I think, notoriously, mike mushok from staind has used many baritone guitars as well as signature models. I've owned a gretsch baritone, hefty piece of kit but tone and feel to it was awesome, like mentioned. . . Use a capo and you have a guitar or naturally play bass lines on it. bigsmokebass
maybe they have changed it or atleast with the studio models??? i think that guitar would be a good, yet, expensive introduction to baritone guitars if you havent had a guitar yet. dannybuoy
I've been thinking of getting a baritone to play with too. Not sure whether to go for a bass VI style E-to-E like the Schecter Hellcat VI, or the more common B-to-B baritones like the Jaguar/Les Paul/Danelectro models... thisnameistaken
Is the guitar on the Black Books theme a baritone?
cheddatom
I have a Yamaha one, I think it's tuned to G at the moment. I have the fender baritone strings on it but they won't go down to E - it's just too slack. It sounds great. With some pedals it could maybe pull off a bass tone for the odd bass line, but it couldn't replace a bassist in a band IMO.
Wil
Is the guitar on the Black Books theme a baritone?
Not sure, but I reckon that theme tune was very much inspired by Mark Ribot's angular playing on the Tom Waits album Raindogs.
stingraybassman
A lot of thrices new album in on baritone, relatively heavy I suppose. Check out yellow belly, really cool lick on it!

dlloyd
I had one for a while. An OLP baritone tuned E-E an octave below a guitar. It sounded great when played in a band with another bassist, pretty much as Robert Smith is doing above. But it didn't cut it as a bass on its own.
This is what they look like... well worth trying out if you can find one. A credible alternative to the Squier Bass VI and probably cheaper.
