wateroftyne
Hi folks I've been on the hunt for a Sunburst PJ with block markers, tort guard, P profile neck, 70s logo. So, when I saw this Roscoe Beck IV, which has virtually none of those attributes, I just had to buy it. In my defence, I've wanted one for years, since I first read about them... Sold as a used bass, but unplayed - virtually untouched, in fact. Plastic still on the pickguard, bag of goodies unopened, clear plastic ramp still in it's packet (what are these for, anyway?). First impressions plunking it in the office... medium-weight (8lb 9oz or thereabouts), resonant, beautiful... I'll be taking it to out very own The Bass Doc tomorrow to have him run his eye over it. And then, if it's a keeper, I'll be asking him to make a tort guard for it. More as I have it! Edited January 6, 2012 by wateroftyne
discreet
Well, I wasn't expecting that.
franzbassist
Good call, the RB V I had was superb. There's a vast range of tones to be had from these. +1 on the tort guard too
risingson
Nothing anticlimactic about that! What a lovely bass, I've lusted after the V string version for years, one of Fender's best recent efforts. Congrats!
mike257
It's lovely mate!! And we can all stop holding our breath, tension was killing me! Edited January 6, 2012 by mike257

brensabre79
Nice bass dude. No anticlimax here, I didn't even know these existed! Now I want one! I'm with you about the pickguard - tort, or black!
Highfox
Cool, thats a bit different. I had you down as going for a Ray.

LukeFRC
what's the craic with the pups?
ShergoldSnickers
I'll defer applying the anti-climax ointment. That bass is a bit damn good - looks very well in that case. I think we may need some sound clips... Excellent work that man.
The Bass Doc
what's the craic with the pups?
Strings in between pole pieces = warm. ( I happen to know Sterling Ball had a Stingray made by Leo in the early days with a 5-string pickup fitted for the same reason)
charic
I'd have a white pearl plate on that I think. I'm not a fan of tort though, lovely looking bass
warwickhunt
Nope I didn't have that in my list, though it makes absolute sense tbh! Look forward to seeing/hearing it.
Lfalex v1.1
I love these. Except for the lack of pan pot...
I can understand that. When I use a J, I only over really use neck solo'd, both full on, or neck backed off slightly so I'll not be missing anything...
