Fret lights

I tried (and pretty much failed) to make a bass a few years ago and remember looking into this then without having much luck.

Where's the best and most reasonable place to get fret lights fitted? And how much? OOORRRR, where is the best place that sells basses already set up with the lights?

They look cool as sometimes. I'm just curious as this may be a future GAS problem.

EBS_Freak is spot on, the place to go is the SimS Custom Shop, Martin Sims LED system is the best in the world. Don't consider anything else!

A whole bass with performing LEDs for less than half the price of having Martin Sims trained woodworms fit them to your current bass..

I've got Fretlord glodots on the side of my SX. £10 and they work OK.

Not as good as the LED sidemarkers on my Shukers
I got them mostly becasue the side marker dots on the SX are tiny and my old eyes can't see them easily (in daylight, let alone on a dark stage) You stick them on and charge them up with a special little UV torch and they glow for a bit. They are Ok and, like the rest of my SX project, very good value for money compared with the alternatives.

Those FretLord Illuminators look crazy (the LED ones that go on the head/body and light up the neck). I'd consider buying some.

I've got side LEDs on my Alembic.
I thought they were a bit gimmicky until I used them on a really dark stage, then they were great. I don't look at my hands very much but the glances were made easy by the lights

I had side LEDs on my Shuker cos I thought it added a touch of luxury and for those very occasional dark stage gigs. However I use them all the time except for daylight gigs, and I play even less of those than totally dark ones. In the murk of a normal stage with some stage lighting they are a god send for finding the right note to start the next tune.

Once a tune is running I don't usually need them unless there's a leap from 3rd to 15th or whatever but having them as a safety net is really helpful.
Oh and on my Shuker P5 it's the [b]only[/b] thing civilians comment on, if they even notice them

Hmm those fibre optic fret lights look pretty cool, i might order some sometime if i can find them in the UK, i can't be bothered with import tax and customs and all that crap.
