Ha, thanks.
"Amazing job" might be a bit much though. The edge of the fretboard is knackered from too many knocks and chips (and a slip with a file :blush: )

But I shall take it to my next band rehearsal and give it a good thrashing.

I'm not a fan of gold hardware really (unless it's a black Wal or Black SB Elite), but the bass just reminds me of an old sideboard that needed brass-ish handles, if you know what I mean...

I don't know... looks good, if you wanted to get it A1, you could treat it to a coloured finish - depends if you wanted to keep the wood look. You asked about the look when the oil is being applied - you'd get that with a thin polyester clear top coat.
