Ash bodied Wal Pro II bass for sale or part exchange.
One of the tone knobs is missing and the pickup selector switch does not work.

Looking for £1,650.

Will consider Jack Casady bass, Stingray or Bongo as part exchange.

I am in Worcester. Collection or meet up only.

Thanks

Steve

Oh, an old Pro II is something I always wanted, although I'm not sure how my back would hold up these days, and I hold out little hope for my arm problem with the forearm contour. Regardless, I haven't the cash or the required trades.

Good luck with the sale!

Do these Pro II basses still have the same tone controls as the more common MK I/II/II Wals? ie pick attack and filter based tone controls etc?

The actual pick ups look the same?

thanks

the short answer is 'no'..

The electronics in the old Pro models are very different to the Custom models to which you're referring.. though having said that, Wal basses do have a 'sound' that is quite distictive and IMO, can be heard in both the Pro Models and the Customs. However, the Custom models have a much more versatile e.q. system..

Hope that helps?

I've had a Pro II which I bought here on bass.chat...
It had the same sound ingredients as other Wal basses but in a way it still had a sound of its own..I remember a fellow bass-player being floored by the sound, more so than the MKI models..
The switch is handy but you can control the volumes with the knobs so it isn't really a problem if the switch doesn't work..
This is one of my old videos which gives a bit of an impression how the bass sounded, might be of help.. (I'll remove it if it bothers you)
Good luck with your sale or trade

Nice clip! I've always preferred the sound of the Pro Models to the Custom models, but it's 'horses for courses' etc...

Having said that, Happy Jack's two Custom Wals are amazing sounding basses!

I dont normally dig Wals (my bank manager is pleased by this), or natural finish basses.... but this one is a beauty! The black hardware / PG really works IMO. Seems a good price for a Wal as well?

That sounds absolutely awesome; in fact that's the "other sound" I've been looking for to a tee. Sorry to hijack the thread, but what strings and rig were you using? The strings look pretty light.

It's been a while but I think I used the D'Addario's with an 0.40 for the G..
I change gear a lot but at that time I think it was an Epifani amp (which I still have) with a Vanderkley 2X12 speaker.
As already stated a lot bass players prefer these Pro-basses...

Not as light as I thought then. I had an Epifani (which sadly didn't work for what I was doing at the time) but have never tried the Vanderkley cabs, although I've heard great things about them.

Yes, as I mentioned, I've always preferred the Pros.

Anyway, bump for a great bass!

Someone asked for a picture of the end of the headstock.

Thanks to everyone who bumped up the post.

To reiterate some points...
The bass is passive.
Controls are volume and tone for each pickup plus a master tone.
There is also a mini switch for each pickup, which I thin is a coil tap.
The pickup selector switch does not work. You can toggle it between the three positions but both pickups are always on. You can still use the volume controls to turn the individual pickups off or on.
Both pickups work well.

Thanks

Steve

Though passive, these basses have a pretty wide tonal range... IIRC, the switch under each pick up cuts low frequencies; I'm not sure it's a 'coil-tap' in the traditional sense..

Good luck with the sale!
