99mustang
The machine heads on my squier affinity are the closed back design, little oblong covers over the gearing. Question, will the standard open gear style tuners fit without major mods to the headstock? Sorry if this been asked before. Cheers, John. tommorichards
I dont believe so. The ones in there are of a smaller diameter that the open back ones. I bought open back tuners to go on my squier affinity p bass, and i had to enlarge the holes for them. But there are tools to do that easily if you are worried. 99mustang
From your term "tools", I take it you mean there's a little more to it than just drilling out the holes?
gary mac
You can drill out the holes but wouldn't really recommend doing it freehand as it were. Best bet is to use a proper drill bench and clamp down the neck so that there is no movement, ensuring that the holes are accurate and not skewing off at an angle. [/quote] I did just mean a drill. But instead of a spade bit which i used, there are tapered drill bits which i would probably use if i wanted it perfect. However, im sure a normal drill bit and a bench drill would be alright.
