alwoodcock Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 (edited) Hello. I'm looking for a Jazz bass guitar, NOT Fender U.S. but the cheaper range, like Squier or MIM! I need to spend up to about £200 second hand. Just a 'giggable' bass will do for now!!!! Any ideas please? Thanks Al Edited January 8, 2012 by alwoodcock Quote
lowfer Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 squire classic vibe, but you may struggle to get one for £200, happy hunting Quote
Jerry_B Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 Here's one for sale for less than 200 quid: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/164367-squier-vm-jazz-bass/ Quote
Lozz196 Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 Squier Classic Vibe would be my choice. Don`t know what the Jazzes are like, but I bought a Precision to use as a backup, and have been very pleasantly surprised by the quality and playability. Quote
JTUK Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 I saw a MM copy in a local music shop in Kent that was eminently playable ...for £75...!! And I can tell you that I am very picky about basses..!! I didn't plug it in tho..but £75..!!!! Quote
Len_derby Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 I've been very pleased with my Squier Vintage Modified (VM) Jazz. There are quite a few fans for this model amongst Basschaters. I picked mine up for under £200 second-hand off this forum. There were a couple around on the For Sale page recently. Quote

fatboyslimfast Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 (edited) Another vote for a VM Jazz. My '77 (style, not year!) plays beautifully and has great tone. Seems to be built to withstand a nuclear war as well. I've also not heard of a bad example - the QC seems pretty tight on the VMs. It isn't the lightest thing in the world - the Squier affinity basses are a good couple of pounds lighter - but sits comfortably with a decent strap. You should be looking at between £150 and £180 for a decent one. Mine was a minter from crackconvertors and cost me £175. Edited January 9, 2012 by fatboyslimfast Quote
