john1
Hi, everyone as you may have noticed i'm new to the site do if i do something wrong let me know. My uncle left me an Overwater electric bass guitar. I'm not a musical person myself and I’m trying to find out a bit about it. He loved his guitar and played it loud with the window open all the time. Everyone in the neighbourhood knew him because you could always here the music everywhere. He used to play with his friends Harry Hiroshima Hill(Drummer) and Steven Hutch(keyboard). Unfortunately my uncle died of a brain tumour when he was just 21 and never did get to live his dream of playing live one day. Never the less his two friends went on the play for 'FIST' and 'The Animals' and even released some records. I already know that he had it had made in Newcastle by 'The Overwater Company' in 1979 -1980.It is for a right handed player. It has the old style circular Overwater logo on the front and Chris May Logo on the back. There are 4 strings and 25 frets. The guy in JG Windows told me it was mahogany and was carved in one piece and It is solid not hollow. He also told me it has 2 volume controls and then a third master volume control. It is a dark wood and it has a purple starburst design on it with a gloss finish. It has few dents on the edges and scratches on the back but it plays beautifully for a 30+ year old I will be posting some pictures soon. If anyone is interested in it then please contact me. TheGreek
Both Chris May and Laurence Blackadder from Overwater use this site regularly - hopefully they'll pick up on this..If you contact them with the serial No they'll probably be able to provide you with loads of information about the bass. I thought I had both of their email addresses but I can only find Laurence's: "] IIRC Chris's BC user name is Overwater - PM him... john1
Thaks, where would i find the serial number?
Machines
Under the control plate at the back (just a few screws). That's a very early and rare model (please don't mistake that as it being worth thousands), very nice - you have a great bass there.

BigRedX
It's unlikely to have a serial number - neither of mine form the mid 80s do. However with a bit of luck Chris will be along soon to tell you more about this bass.
