have to agree with this. Especially as i just know the prices are going to increase by the time i can afford one. (maybe 10-20 years)

Use pub economics. Let's say you consume £40 in a night out (booze, snacks, wasting money in bandits, taxi, kebab, whatever). Take cost of desired item. Stay out of the pub for cost/40 nights and put that money aside instead. Assuming you only go for one sesh per weekend - if your desired item is £1000 the you'll be able to buy it in 25 weeks. That's less than half a year! Simples!

I did as Neepheid suggested but as I had just given up fags, used smoking economics. I gave up in July 2010 so have saved approx. £2,000. Allowing me to get a very nice G&L SB1 and a 75 P bass

Always the best way to do it. If I didn't go out of a weekend I'd save about £20 a week. £80 a month isn't to be sniffed at!

I'm currently unemployed so saving money isn't an option, but I'll try it. Maybe 15-20/week and next year I'll buy a vintage P-bass myself.
