Developing a way of hooking a 9v AC/DC power supply up would be a bigger achievement in some ways. Maybe this unit can be modded for that...? Ou7shined
I wonder how easy they'd be to reverse engineer?
tonyf
Erm. Why? I've used EMG pickups and circuits for the best part of 20 years. 9v or 18v, battery life has never been a problem and lets face it, unscrewing the control plate of a jazz bass every 6 months is hardly a trauma. Dunno. It's solving a "problem" that doesn't really exist IMHO. In my situation, it's hardly practical. I use wireless which means I'd have to plug the unit inbetween the transmitter and bass, stashed somewhere on my person. No. Not for me.
so in having a look at the instruction PDF to try and work out why you would want a button and what it does I noticed something.... they recommend that you use a battery not the DC power input. So basically this box is a way of spending money on more expensive stereo jack cables, to plug in a battery (with the additional resistance of the cable) in order that you don't have to change the batteries on your bass. The only time I can think that at all useful is your 1960 jazz bass that you don't want to rout for a battery or some other similar ilk. But my next question is why are you putting EMG's in a 1960 jazz bass......
Kiwi
Dunno. It's solving a "problem" that doesn't really exist IMHO.
I think its directed at owners who don't wish to rout their instrument for a battery cavity. I struggle to believe the market is that big though. Ou7shined
Wouldn't it be a useful single solution for those with multiple guitars and basses loaded with EMGs?
velvetkevorkian
Could you not just put a battery clip on a long wire and tape it to your strap?
nick
A small discreet voltage doubler (9v to 18v), negating the need to have two batteries, and could also be retro-fitted to existing intalled EMGs, would have been more useful.
