Kiwi
Its non starter, but taking the plate off isn't any more difficult than changing strings.
EmmettC
I've just ordered a second nordstrand pickup for mine, it already has one, and a JohnEast pre, so I'll route a space for the second pup, shouldn't be too much work. I'll start work on mine next week, I'll start a thread once I get it going and you can see how easy or hard it'll be.
Machines
Old ones certainly won't be. New ones (after they brought out the HH series a couple of years ago) I also doubt, since it'd cost more to route all SR5 bodies than just the ones they needed to. That said - if it's the difference between keeping it and selling it if you like it otherwise - it's worth the cost of routing and a new pickup. ThomBassmonkey
If the only thing you like about it is the weight, keep it stock and sell it on. Any modifications will cost more than you'll get for them and you'll be able to sell a SR5 fairly easily I'd imagine and get something you do like. Duarte
Sounds like a beautiful bass. If you can trade it for a double pickup version ...do it!
EmmettC
Put an ad up in the sale section, you never know who wants what, or when, it might take a while, but you'll find someone willing to trade for something you want.
Cosmo Valdemar
Put it up for trade. There may be someone lurking on here with a 2 pickup Ray who wishes they had bought the single pickup.I had a Spector 5 string but would have preferred a 4, put out a feeler on here and had a trade arranged within a couple of days. In the words of Kiss, you got, you got, you got nothin' to lose.
Musicman20
Never thought I'd hear beautiful (one mans meat etc!). I'd rather trade for an active Warwick 5er though, but pigs don't fly here!!! C'est la vie.
I tried a Warwick Streamer $$ 5 and it was awful compared to my Ray 5 HS. Sell the Ray or buy another and have two
Mylkinut
I think the Trans Teal Rays are the dog's nutsticles. In fact, I sold a black/black/maple SR4 on here last year - that combo's about as common as you can get but I still had plenty of interest and got a price I was happy with. Put it up for trade, you never know what you'll get and you can always say no Edited January 17, 2012 by Mylkinut
