This is my Lakland 55-02 DLX in 3 Tone Sunburst dated August 09 from the serial number. I bought it here in January last year, its immaculate and it still has the plastic on the rear plate.

This is now for sale, (I've been looking for a fretless , and been offered one but with no trade option). Its in 10/10 condition, an un-altered 55-02 DLX with Lakland pups and preamp, and a brand new set of Elixirs on, looking for [s]£900[/s] £850 in a ritter gigbag

New pics, just taken in the afternoon sunshine!

HI, Yes spoken to Hugh, the rosewood grain is a bit too "open" so not sure this would be a good outcome. Theres a frtted neck for sale on ebay (somewhere in Malaysia I think), and I wondered whether to buy that, and get the fretboard swapped for an ebony one. still a bit pricy though after all work done.

I have also contacted Lakland, and they can sell me a fretless neck, but only rosewood, and i ideally want ebony.... They say they only do rosewood for skyline basses, but there are two ebony necked 55-02's on bassemporium.com, so maybe only available in US?

The neck on EBay may be genuine and just have "fallen off the back of a lorry", but it could be a forgery.

I've asked Lakland for a USA rosewood neck and their price was $1000. A Skyline should be much cheaper. Drop them an email.

A rosewood fretboard will probably be too soft for round wound strings but should hold up with flat wound strings. A coat of epoxy on the board should give you the protection that you need.

I have a 2008, fretless, ebony 55-02. I'm second owner, but it was ordered by a UK customer. Either they've stopped doing them or else the ebony necks are not made available separately from the finished product.

You know you want to trade it for a lovely fretted one... ;)

Here's the ebay one...

Lined ebony neck from Lakland $400, just had a quote...

This is still a lot of money on top of a bass which stands me for £900, so would rather sell/trade as cannot really afford until I sell my Wal...

Uh-uh :) took me two years to find the one I've got. Would have really like an [s]lined[/s] unlined (55-94 or modded 55-02) but I gave in and got a lined 55-02
