i have a trace elliot blx130 combo

iv just turned the trace up to about half volume, and played, but when i go low, the speaker crackles, quite loudly, doesnt sound to great, what is that?

iv just opened her up at the back and checked connections to speaker, nothing seems loose

whats it more likely to be, speaker or head? i know nothin about this :)

Maybes it was loose in the cabinet, you've unmounted and remounted it tighter and gotten rid of the loose bit, or at least made it less loose. If you see what I mean.. :)

See if there is anything on the speaker magnet or cone. Once I took apart a combo and there was a screw on the magnet which caused a funny noise at a certain frequency...

I thoroughly agree - I just thought about buying a Bacchus Jazz 5er, the boiler packed in then the coil springs and head gasket went in the motor. ;) Final cost - just slightly more than the Bacchus would have been. :)

Good luck with the Trace Kev

embarrassingly, first time i took it off i noticed screws were slightly loose, so when i put it back on, i left them a bit loose again, as i thought thats how they must go..... n00b ay??
