I'm at a low level technically due to time constraints, so listening to John McVie, Duff, Adam Clayton**, Bruce Thomas and James Jamerson - I appreciate them even if I cant play much of it yet.

** I know I'll get slagged for this, just need some easy stuff to start with that fits against simple drum patterns

no idea who's on bass but The Waitresses Christmas Wrapping caught my ear in the supermarket this christmas

Bassist on that record was Tracy Wormworth, who went on to replace Daryl Jones in Sting's jazz band in the late 1980's / early 1990's.

I'll be honest - guys who do extremely simple things and still sounding awesome: mostly Paul Simonon from The Clash and Cubbie Fink from Foster the People (these two guys in one pot may seem a bit blasphemous to some, but, hey...)

Got to admit, I did a fair bit of listening to that record over Christmas as well.

Though at the moment, its mainly Jon Stockman from Australian band Karnivool. Very good groove, choice of fills and that tone just hits the spot...

Certainly been enjoying the Dirty Loops videos that have been appearing on YouTube. Really talented bass player. Hmmmm, not sure actually - really been listening to more guitarists for a bit of influence recently. Mike Casswell, Jamie Humphries and my buddy Andy James who I'm doing some stuff with at the moment. Great players!
