jonniejames
Hello. Any comments/help will be appreciated. I'm currently playing bass for the Plymouth pantomime and after 54 performance and only 10 left my amp has developed an annoying problem. Everytime I play an F on the D-string , 3rd fret, the sound produced is bad, and only on this note! I am playing my Lakland through a Trace Elliot 715 SMC I don't know how to describe it in more detail other than that particular note has little to no bass frequencies an distorts. Really frustrating as its been sounding great up til now. Any ideas? Thanks
MarkBassChat
The easiest test is to check the amp with another speaker. Please make sure that the jack on the back of the combo is mono (some Trace amps had stereo jack). Another test is to use a different bass. One more test: if the bass is active, is there a new battery in it? If the problem persists with another speaker and another bass, the amp may be oscillating - in such a case you need to give it to some tech. jonniejames
Thanks Mark. Well the jack is mono at the back of the combo. I've also changed the battery on the bass. I'm thinking the speaker may be on the way out. So fraustrating, good job I'm using a D.I. Box so the house PA isn't getting what I'm hearing!!
