ReeV0
Hi guys, Just got a few quick questions to ask about this Marshall stack: Marshall MB450H Bass Amplifier Head - http://www.giggear.co.uk/home/index.php?m=...amp;prodid=3178 Marshall MBC410 Bass Cabinet - http://www.giggear.co.uk/home/index.php?m=...amp;prodid=3180 Marshall MBC115 Bass Cabinet - http://www.giggear.co.uk/home/index.php?m=...amp;prodid=3179 Basically, will these all work together? And is it possible for me to just use the 4x10 cab by its self without damaging it? And do you know if there are any wheels to put on the 4x10 cab cos it looks pretty heavy! I'm either gonna get ^that^ Marshall stack, or this Ashdown stack: Ashdown MAG 300H Bass Amplifier Head - http://www.giggear.co.uk/home/index.php?m=...amp;prodid=1633 Ashdown MAG 410T Deep Bass Cabinet - http://www.giggear.co.uk/home/index.php?m=...amp;prodid=1629 Ashdown MAG 115 Deep Bass Cabinet - http://www.giggear.co.uk/home/index.php?m=...amp;prodid=1627 I'll have to try them both out and see which sounds best:bassist:
WarPig
Yes it will all work together. It is fine to use the 4x10 by itself, itll just be abit quieter. Wheels (Castors) can be bought at any hardware place like B&Q, and installed by someone with some DIY knowledge. IMO the marshall stack will be better in the long run because the cabs can take more wattage, so you could always upgrade the head when you feel the need to. Abit of De-Ja-Vo there
David Nimrod
Buy secondhand Ashdown ABM gear... Get a ABM500 Head and a 4 x 10" cab. Then buy another 4 x 10" cab or a 1 x 15" cab later for the full 575 watts

That Marshall gear must be quite new out. I haven't come across it before. It'll be interesting to know if anyone on here has used it. You made it here from that 'orrible American site then

ReeV0
nah sorry, id rather just stick to my 2 options above. either the marshall stack or the ashdown stack. im leaning way more towards the marshall, people say it sounds a lot louder and clearer

ReeV0
well after much research and discussion (on other forums), it definitely seems like the Marshall rig is the one to go for! I'll buy the head and the 4x10 cab first, as thats all i can affort at the moment, then buy the 1x15 cab at a later date. I absolutely cant wait!! ReeV0
lol, u'd think there are a lot of shops - which there are, but hardly any do the amps i've looked at. and i've looked at a lot. people love the marshall amp, and i know where i can try it out, and they have cheap prices too. i dont want to keep introducing more and more amps, its just painful lol. i must hav looked at at least 50 by now. im pretty settled on the marshall, provided i like it when i play it. i dont think i'm gonna bother trying out the ashdown
The Funk
Research and preparation can prevent (as well as induce) GAS. It can be worthwhile to avoid falling into a habit of continually buying and selling your gear in upgrades and crossgrades. I can't get a slap sound I'm happy with out of a Marshall or Ashdown personally. But if you don't play slap you can get a nice, meaty fingerstyle tone out of almost anything. One big advantage of second hand gear is that there isn't much of a depreciation in value if you decide it's not right for you and try to sell it on. ReeV0
hmm well i definitly want a new amp, and i play mainly slap. im gonna definitly try it out in the shop before hand
Boy Thunder
I'd say play as many different amps as possible but also bear in mind that the sound produced can change from location to location... If you're investing your own money into a stack then you need to be sure it's gonna do exactly what you want it to do.. Otherwise you'll end up selling it and losing £££s... Just my opinion.... Good luck
ReeV0
lol im not a professional or anything. i just want something big and loud to be heard in a funk rock band, and this marshall looks like it can do the job

ReeV0
lol im not really big on selling stuff anyway, i tend to just keep all my old stuff. besides the cabs arnt that hard to lug around. just chuck it in the boot of the car - job done. at least when you buy something new, you have a shop warranty on it, and u know its in perfect condition, cos who knows what the other person had done to it. he could have spilt coffee on one of the speakers, but since there are 4 speakers you would probably never know
