Id like toy trains around my head and at a push (in a different tune) id even settle for a Kate bush duo, but my question is, can this be done live in a pub impressively? will the 4 channel calsbro PA cope with such a varitable feast of aural colours?

Right,
Fretless bass...compressor,some light octave, moderate chorus and some twiddley metal things on the fingers. Am I right or way off the mark?

Definately Fretless :) lots of compression and yes Octave pedal.

I always use chorus on my fretless.

I don't know about the metal things you speak of!

Tony Levin also played this particular tune with a pick on the original record, as well as on fretless and with an octave pedal/nice dash of chorus.

I regularly play it out live for covers work. It's always a first set tune, but it usually gets people dancing, plus it's a hell of a lot of fun to stretch out and play around with my sole effects unit... my Boss OC-2!

Funk Fingers are made of wood, not metal. Not used on "Sledgehammer" anyway.
