leftyhook
Came across this. Headphones on, you can hear ever squeak...and a great tone. (is that Uriah Duffy sitting too?) louisthebass
Gotta say I'm impressed with this - I'd forgotten how good a player Nathan East is, & the guy playing the drum machine is something else
Len_derby
I love Nathan East's playing. If you listen to his stuff with Clapton he's a master of restraint and perfect note-choice. A great example of 'less is more'.
Blademan_98
Nathan east is great! I have him on the clapton video in 1986 at the jazz festival

Len_derby
I've just shown my drumming daughter this vid. She was seriously impressed with that gizmo and the way it was played.
lowdown
Nathan East is one of my favourites. Great set of lugs on him. Many moons ago i saw him dep on a Lee Ritenour gig at the Baked Potato. Handled everything thrown [dots/busking wise] at him with little effort, Perfect for Studio work Garry
Linus27
To me, this is what bass playing is all about. groove, melody, chord progression and expression. None of this 1000 x slap notes that just sound like a bag of bolts being shaken in a metal tube. Just my personel opinion of course.
Dood
Yeah really nice tasteful playing! Groooooooooovy! i've recently had the pleasure of playing the Nathan East 30th anniversary Yamaha BBNE2 bass and gotta say, it was stonkingly good! Bit like Nathan really! dmccombe7
First saw Nathan on TV doing Night of the Guitars must have been back in 80's. He was the main bassist throughout and certainly the most impressive IMO. Dave
thisnameistaken
Hmm. This did nothing for me. It just sounded like a musician killing time - maybe waiting for the microwave to ping or something. Trade shows have got to be the worst gigs in the world. chris_b
Nathan East is one of my top 3 favourite bass players. His melodic sense is second to none. I prefer his playing as a side man though. His band 4play and some of this clip, just sounds like lift music to me. bubinga5
got to agree with thisnameistaken....for me his best and most well known prolific playing is from Anita Baker's albums.. fantastic bass player, but no.. it wasnt good...sounded like victor baileys awful scatting on his solo albums... sometimes great bass players just shouldnt do anything but support Edited January 22, 2012 by bubinga5

Made me feel like i was going up and down in a lift. I suposes its more the type of music rather than the playing but it remeinded me of the Freeform Jazz scene in Spinal Tap. Each to his/her own.
