Johnebass
Hi all, I'm looking at buying a bass which is described as having a Palisander fingerboard!! Although in the picture it looks more maple in colour than rosewood, info on Google suggests that it is indeed a form of Rosewood. Has anyone any more info on this please? Immo
Fingerboard of every bass that on English-speaking sites is advertised to be 'rosewood' is described on Polish sites as 'palisander' as it is a Polish word for 'rosewood'.
So Brazilian Rosewood is lighter in colour than standard rosewood that you would normally get on say a P bass? If so is it harder or softer as that's gonna affect the sound quite a bit yeah? deepbass5
I think it is a mixture of language and the fact that so many woods are categoresed under the Rosewood family My shack had a Padouk board really nice Lefay do basses with complete Padouk necks, this was considered in the rosewood family. more red than brown, would love to try one Edited January 23, 2012 by deepbass5
