dave_bass5 Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Just noticed these on another website. I know some people dont agree or like the SBMM range, and i know these wont be a patch on the originals (not my feelings, just anticipating some replies;-) I cant see a huge difference from the Ray34, i guess as with the original SUB range these are just cheaper versions of the Ray34. The bodies are made of different woods and i suppose the necks might be different. Never a fan of the pianted black neck on the original SUB. Also noticed two new Ray34 CA colours. I like the Black but that pick guard would have to go. Quote
dave_bass5 Posted January 25, 2012 Author Posted January 25, 2012 LOL, thats what i first thought but still fancy a Ray34 CA over one of these, only becuase of the thin neck on the CA. Quote
ezbass Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Yeah I saw those 2 on a FaceBook link, pretty much instant GAS ("I don't need them, I don't need them, I don't need them"). Agreed on the paint on SUB necks, mine went shiny in the middle and started to drag. Stripped it off, did some coats of Danish Oil, knocked that back and now it feels great, nothing better feeling in my small stable. Quote
Paul S Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 They are saying lightweight and 38mm neck? And the 34CA in black? Oh dear. Quote
dave_bass5 Posted January 25, 2012 Author Posted January 25, 2012 Yeah, that black one is lovely. As much as i would like a real SR4 they just dont come with narrow necks for this price. The SR4 SLO's ive seen cost a hell of a lot more. Quote
Paul S Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 How much are they? i didn't see a price. Quote
dave_bass5 Posted January 25, 2012 Author Posted January 25, 2012 Do you mean the Ray34CA? These came out last year, although the two i posted above are new colours. Not cheap at around £660 Quote
Musicman20 Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 I was thinking that if I ever get to gigging a lot again, (no idea what 2012 brings at the moment) ill be getting the SBMM Sub...Im guessing they are in the Squier CV price range. Quote
Sean Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 £229 for a 4 string at Andertons. None in stock yet. Quote
Damn, that's too tempting to pass on, I hope they are delayed so I can go off the idea. It's funny but Andertons always seem to be the first to advertise new basses, long before they come out. Quote
dave_bass5 Posted January 25, 2012 Author Posted January 25, 2012 (edited) Ooooo, the 5 string is only £249. Bloody hell, that's cheap. Hmmmm, I see a 5 string back in the arsenal. Looks like not shipping until may, thank god. Edited January 25, 2012 by dave_bass5 Quote
Musicman20 Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 (edited) £249 for the fiver! Wow. Edited January 25, 2012 by Musicman20 Quote
Prime_BASS Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Have you seen the state of that bridge????????????? Id rather just get a used original S.U.B. The Dark brown is a nice/interesting colour, although solid hardwood could mean anything. Quote
velvetkevorkian Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 So it's an OLP by another name? Quote

Like those terrible musicman copies on eBay.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-String-Musicman-Sterling-Stingray-Bass-Guitar-Bridge-/130491072153?pt=UK_Guitar_Accessories&hash=item1e61dfbe99 Quote
fender73 Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 that five looks nice, reckon they'll sell really well with that pricing. Quote
ben604 Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 This might well be a ridiculous question...do they do a 4 string version of the Stingray 5 body/pickguard shape? Quote

silentbob Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Been keeping an eye on Andertons website to see when they get stock of these. None in yet, but price has jumped from £229 to £299 for the 4-string, and from £249 to £329 for the 5-string. Quote
