lockpicker1969
I would like to say hi to all the forum. As Steve will know it took me a while to get there but I am here now.i have been playing bass and guitar 20 odd years and played bass in a group in Hull where I come from for around 4 years. I gave it up in the end as it was getting to much gigging 3 to 4 times a week and holding down a full time job as a locksmith.i have always loved the sun sessions by Elvis, I remember buying this on tape and listening to it every night. I learnt most songs on guitar but not bass as I have never owned or even touched a double bass. This is why I am on here now. I want to buy a double bass and start another band. Its been about 4 yrs since i last played in the group but if anybody is from Hull or surrounding area and interested please give me a pm. We've got a few from round these parts on here
And I'm one of 'em. Currently living in the Avenues off Prinny Ave. I've been in numerous bands that never did anything, from Carnage in Poland - a precursor to The Red Guitars - to 'Sign Language', 'Agent Orange' (not the more famous band also of that name), and now 'Fear of Bicycles'. It keeps me amused.
casapete
Hi - I'm another one! Been in bands for most of my life, still having a go! Regarding double basses, there's one for sale on Leeds Gumtree at the moment for £350 - don't know if its much cop, but maybe worth looking at? Also www.thomann.de have some inexpensive dbs starting around the £375 mark new. Good luck in your search, and welcome! Pete. Lozz196
Hi Richard, welcome to Basschat. Not from Hull, but used to go there quite often in the late 80s, both to play - at The Adelphi - and to socialise - in Spiders. Great fun was had every time we went up there. Used to hang around with the guys from Black September & The Rich Rags. Nice to know The Adelphi is still going.

lockpicker1969
Thanks for the warm welcome and the links. Its good to see there are a few members from the Hull area. I remember the red guitars, didn’t they get to about number 20 in the charts once? I started another thread last night on buying stenor student 2 .off to have a look now. Desperately trying to remember their names - the names Ian Hunter (not that one) and Jon Stewart spring to mind. Used to know them reasonably well.
