Jamesemt Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 What are your thoughts? I've emailed the bloke selling them and he reckons the fit and finish is quite good. I understand you never get a free lunch, but am in need of a cheap 5... Don't know if I can link to eBay here?? If you search for Marcus miller replica Quote
Machines Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 Not much to tell from the pic is there ? I'd expect this to be highly dubious and not a patch on a real one. Quote
Jamesemt Posted January 26, 2012 Author Posted January 26, 2012 (edited) Yeah I wasn't thinking it would be anything like a MM, just wondering if it would be worth it for a cheap Jazz 5... Yeah I think I'm just deluding myself!! Edited January 26, 2012 by Jamesemt Quote
dannybuoy Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 Probably nowhere near as good as the Squier Vintage Modified Jazz V - take a look at that instead! Quote
Jamesemt Posted January 26, 2012 Author Posted January 26, 2012 I was actually thInking It looks like a copy of those! Quote
yorick Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 Judging by the labels on the scratchplates, those are pix of Fender MM basses Quote
Jamesemt Posted January 26, 2012 Author Posted January 26, 2012 I presumed they'd copied the stickers...guess I'll stay away (and the search continues!!) Thanks guys Quote
mikeh Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 The controls and scratch plate look wrong for a real MM? Quote
Fat Rich Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012
The controls and scratch plate look wrong for a real MM?
I agree, only three knobs. The MM has four, a mini toggle and the socket moved over as that's where the extra knob has gone. Also no screws seem to be holding the control plate down (fine by me, I'd be putting a stock Fender plate back on anyway so less holes to fill). I wonder what logos are on the headstock? Quote
Ghost_Bass Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 I can't seem to find them, is it on UK's ebay or international? Can you PM me the link please? Quote
Jamesemt Posted January 26, 2012 Author Posted January 26, 2012 I'm on an iphone at the moment. If you search 'marcus miller replica' it's one of the first things that comes up. Quote
fluffo Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 A friend of mine has done some dealings with this guy in the past, he was doing some TRB copies before. He imports them from china, I think hes up fulham way. I bet with a desent eq they would be ok. Quote

Ghost_Bass Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 (edited) From the pics a get the feeling that it's a simple passive J with a MM'ish pickguard. It only has 3 knobs and if you look closer to the PG you see that there are no screws to remove the battery wich makes me think that there is no battery routing whatsoever. Another thing is that it lacks the pickup cover on the neck PU! For the price it could be a nice 5 string J bass to use and even upgrade but it all would come down to it's tone, finish quality and feel! Edited January 26, 2012 by Ghost_Bass Quote
