Y'got two of the best examples right there. Rutgar Gunnarsson is an incredible groove merchant but don't [url="http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f28/rutger-gunnarsson-abbas-bass-player-202887/"]take my word[/url] for it. He also has a connection with brass like many bass players (John Entwhistle, Herbie Flowers) having scored all of Abba's brass parts.

Oh, I dunno. If you listen closely to the bass and drums on 'Dancing Queen' ...killer.
I ridiculed it at the time, like all us stupid kids who didn't know any better because we were listening to Yes and ELP (!)
It is in fact a very fine example of the craft of pop production and has stood the test of time.
