philw Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 All, I have more basses than gig bags and since my original Wal hard case fell apart years ago (wish I'd kept it now, even though it was trashed), I could do with something good but inexpensive to carry the the old girl around in. So, can somebody a good, cheap(ish) gig bag. Thanks Phil Quote
alanbass1 Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 I wouldn't carry a Wal around in a cheap gig bag and would pay out for a Mono. Quote

warwickhunt Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 I may have a Tribal Planet gigbag/case for sale... need to go count my basses and case! Quote
philw Posted January 29, 2012 Author Posted January 29, 2012 Awww come on guys, if I wanted a lecture I'd go back to college! P :-) Quote
rubis Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 ......I used to work in Brighton......they've got a good college there ! I also used to have a Wal..... I worried about it even when it was in it's hard case Quote

You'll worry yourself into an early grave (apart from which, if social services find out about you keeping the kids in a hard case they'll be taken away). Think I'll give up on this thread and go talk to the cat :-) P Quote

philw Posted January 29, 2012 Author Posted January 29, 2012 No, I keep it in a cupboard with the chocolate teapot. Quote
MB1 Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 MB1. Gigbag should never appear in the same sentence as........................................................................................................ Wal Hardcase however! Quote
chris_b Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 (edited) I've got a very expensive Ritter gig bag and its crap. The stitching has pulled apart along the top seam. The Lull Protec bag that came with the bass has the same problem. Can you afford a Harvest gig bag? I have hardcases for all my basses but only take them out of the house in the Harvest. Edited January 29, 2012 by chris_b Quote
MartyBRebelMC Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 I use a ProTec contego - not cheap but superb level of protection without the weight and hassle of a hard case, also easy to slip the bass in and out of in confined spaces - handy if you play pubs.. Quote
Clarky Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 If it has to be cheap-ish gigbag (ruling out a Mono, which is my preferred one) then the Madarozzo bags that BassDirect ships some of its basses in are OK at about £30 http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Madarozzo.html Quote
TheGreek Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Hi Phil what are the dimensions?? I've got a couple of not bad quality soft cases which don't get used..you can have one for the price of postage (assuming one fits!!) Quote
louisthebass Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Warwick or Protection Racket gig bag? Quote
AndroWal Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 I use Under Cover Cases' gig bags for my Wals. Substantial protection...never as much as a hard case, but I've found these to be really good. Quote

Kostas Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 I have this http://www.thomann.de/gr/thomann_premium_gigbag_e_bass_br.htm and it's very good.It has 30mm high density industrial padding which is more than most gig bags and like the description says it's very firm! Very good for the price they sell it. Quote
