rog19702001 Posted January 30, 2012 Share Posted January 30, 2012 Just purchased hartke lh500 head and 2 ashdown 410 cabs.. with 1 of the speakers there seems to be what i can only describe as an "off frequency" sound rather than a true note.. icastle Posted February 1, 2012 Share Posted February 1, 2012 You need to have a bit of an experiment. If you use the working cab on it's own and it sounds fine, swap that cab for the 'dodgy' one. Make sure you use the same speaker cable and socket on the back of the amp. If it still sounds 'dodgy' then it's definately that cab (you've removed all the 'variables'). If it sounds OK then the next thing to check is the second speaker cable - is it wired the same way as the first one? Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

[/quote] Surely if it was a problem with the amp both speakers would be making the sound you describe? Hard to know what's going on from your description, but I'd start by checking over the faulty cab for loose battens, foreign objects stuck to the magnets, cables touching the cone, loose dust caps, etc. Do a search for buzzing speakers on these forums - there have been quite a few threads about odd noises that cabs can make. I have read somewhere that by replacing this "standard" sovtek valve with an alternative it can enhance the quality of tone and also power output.. Any suggestions? Cheers...
