Kempy535 Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 (edited) Hi guys, Here is my fender Fender Jazz Bass Special Power. Made in Japan in 1987 in the Fuji-gen Plant. Although this looks quiet similar to a normal Jazz Special it isnt. It has a 22 Fret Tri-Lam Jazz neck alder neck with rosewood board, carbon graphite nut. Reverse P-bass and J bass pick-ups, ATE active circuit, TBX tone control, high mass bridge. From what I have read the neck has a layer of graphite between the fret board and neck. For a 25 year old bass it is in excellent condition. I have owned this bass for around 7 years now. It is a fantastic sounding and playing bass. You do not see this come up for sale very often. It is all original and comes with a hard case. Price is £600 plus postage Fender Jazz Bass Special Power by kempy535, on Flickr Fender Jazz Bass Special Power by kempy535, on Flickr Fender Jazz Bass Special Power by kempy535, on Flickr Fender Jazz Bass Special Power by kempy535, on Flickr Fender Jazz Bass Special Power by kempy535, on Flickr Fender Jazz Bass Special Power by kempy535, on Flickr Link to Fender owner hand book Link to feedback thread Edited February 15, 2012 by Kempy535
Kempy535 Posted February 1, 2012 Author Posted February 1, 2012 Thanks Chris. It really is a great bass
Prime_BASS Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 Learned to slap on a white onbe of these. Would buy for nostalgia sake but i just dont get on with fenders.
Dood Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 I have one in red... wonderful bass - if I wasn't looking for other gear right now, I'd be all over this one! Free bump on me!
Kempy535 Posted February 7, 2012 Author Posted February 7, 2012 Cocco, Yep Jazz neck but 22 frets and with the layer of graphite Dood thanks
Dood Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 Cocco, I can't confirm this, but I seem to remember reading somewhere that the neck was modelled on a '62 Jazz profile. I've not ever played a '62 Jazz so I can't add anything to that - but it's slim, fast and feels great! The ATE control is brilliant and at the quick twist of the control near the bridge you can go from scoopy slap to parpy Jaco mids. These basses are fantastic and even mine, which I think is an '89 with it's worn finish still plays like a dream.
KarlWhite Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Hey im interested in this bass, but im also interested in the fender jazz bass pluses made in the usa, can you tell me what the differance is at all? i know obviously this is a jap but other than that, i know the jazz pluses have the kubicki active circuitry
Kempy535 Posted February 13, 2012 Author Posted February 13, 2012 Hey not sure about the US plus. So cant really comment on it other than it looks like the plus has lace pick-ups the kubicki and is more traditional Jazz shaped. The power special has a 22 Fret Tri-Lam Jazz neck alder neck with rosewood board, carbon graphite nut. Reverse P-bass and J bass pick-ups, ATE active circuit, TBX tone control, high mass bridge. From what I have read the neck has a layer of graphite between the fret board and neck.
KarlWhite Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 lol i can read what your saying, but whats ATE active circuit or TBX tone control
Paul S Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f38/active-power-jazz-bass-special-fender-192864/#post7894267 Follow that link, it will all become clear what the various knobs do on one of these! It isn't simply a treble/mids/bass cut/boost. And have a bump for the best sounding rock bass I have played or owned.
Kempy535 Posted February 15, 2012 Author Posted February 15, 2012 Hi guys, thank you for the interest. I am now fairly sad to say this bass is sold!
