oldslapper Posted February 2, 2012 Share Posted February 2, 2012 (edited) Made in Japan Aria Pro II Laser Electric Classic, 4-string, 34" (860mm) scale length, 40mm nut width, 18mm pitch. Alder body, with three-piece, bolt-on maple neck, and rosewood touchboard, with graphite nut. MB-III (P-style) and MB-JI (J-style) pickups, with volume control, tone control, three position selector switch, and phase reverse mini toggle switch. Diecast, chromed bridge and mini, enclosed tuners. Bought this very recently from the man who knows his Japanese guitars Mr noelk27. The pickups and 18v Pre amp are very lively and has a huge output with a wide tonal pallet. So, why sell? It's the position of the upper horn strap button in relation to the neck that makes the bass uncomfortable for me. I prefer the strap button to be over the 11/12th fret and this hangs behind the 13th. Silly though it may sound, but it's the reason why I can't get on with Spector basses. I love the sound, but the end of the neck is a little long. I've played this every day, at home, since getting it but it's in great condition, except for a nick on the edge of the bottom of the guitar. The P bass pup on this Laser is the most aggressive I've played, if I was happy to ruin a this classic bass I'd rip the pups and Pre out of it and put them in my Ibby. It has an ungigged set of bass boomers on. Other than what's been mentioned above, this one has had one of the battery clips replaced, but is otherwise all original. Pity the balance doesn't suit you, Slapper. I've tried 3 spectors, love their sound too, but that 1st fret seems so far away....bizarre given that I'm 6'4" and have long arms. I thought I'd give a longer neck one more try. Like I said, the pups and Pre amp are monsters...I'd half thought of keeping it for a punk/pop gig I play over the summer festival season, as the P tone is huge. But you gotta be comfy...
