steelman
Wondering if anyone can confirm this is ok. I have a Hartke VX210 cab with a blowing driver... Its £60.00 to replace. I've just seen 2 X10 Hartke speakers for sale out of a 4.5XL cab ( 4X10) Aluminium type... ( £50.00 pair) Can these be used in the VX cab?? At least I'll have 2 drivers with equal use ( they've had little use) rather than 1 good and 1 old speaker if I replace with a new VX speaker.... Any thoughts.... Its the fixings that concern me most. C
paul_5
VX210 is 8Ohm and 250 Watts, 4.5XL is 400W and 8 Ohms, You'd probably end up with a 200W cab,a s (i think) the cones in the VX are 125W each, and the XL cones are 100W each. Depending on how they're wired inside the cabinet your impedance may drop to 4 Ohms, which might be an issue if your amp is delivering 250W at 8 Ohms (to match your current cab). If your head will go down to 4Ohms, then you'll be chucking out close to 400W (max) into a 200W cab - net result is two more blown cones... steelman
Well spotted Paul! Just took the front off and each speaker is 16 ohm on the VX - the ones on ebay are 8 ohms each. good old basschat........ C
paul_5
You'll be able to run them in series and still have an 8 Ohm load, but then you'd probably be limited to 100W. It's always worth Emailing Hartke, they're pretty nice people. Also there's a Hydrive 410 for sale on here - please buy it quick, as there's only so long I can resist getting a second one...
