charic
Fairly sure it's 5 or 1, doesn't sound much like a P to me. Dunno why edit to say like the track! Edited February 3, 2012 by charic
charic
Also thinking it's a pick rather than fingers?
OliverBlackman
its definitely pick. I give up, all picked basses sound the same to me.
Badass
#4 with a pick. Nice track
Conan
No idea! To me there is little difference between a P-bass and a J-bass on the neck pickup.... No idea what a Fernandes would sound like. The bass is also a bit low in the mix to make out clearly. Good track though! If I were to guess I would say it was one of the Js.... er, the Squier CV??? Protium
Don't think it's a J, so my guess is #

bear-foot-bass
Dunno. Just want to say I love the track, and you have a good mix of all the instruments and voice. IMHO I love it. As to the question, def a pick. Bass no 1?
simon1964
I have no idea what the Fernandes is! I would have guessed the Precision, but I'm thinking its a trick question so I'll opt for the Squier. Great track BTW
stu_g
squier classic vibe jazz?
xilddx
That's the P bass played with fingers.
RichZbaraski
Thanks for the complements. I'll help you out a little: its played with a pick.
Killerfridge
I'm going to say Squire Classic Vibe Jazz - only because it sounds very similar to one of the Squires that I have heard other people play recently. And it is a great sound!
KiOgon
TBH I really liked the track, playing my 51P along with - sounded fine to me, so I'll go #4 P with a pick Good stuff
OliverBlackman
we've already established its with a pick. I want a better clue
4 Strings
I can't tell the difference between basses with cellulose or any other type of paint so how am I supposed to tell different makes? Seriously, I honestly can't tell a jazz on the neck from a Precision, but I would say this is different enough from what I would expect from a Precision that I would say it isn't no. 3. In the quiet bit it has an un-fenderish characteristic so if I had to say one its no. 5. Yes, impressive sounding track too. Was this really a competition (and an excellent one at that, I'd like to see more of these) or are you showing off a track with which you are justifiably proud? xgsjx
Is it a trick question & the answer is none of them, it's a Les Paul with an octaver?
RichZbaraski
IT WAS #1, THE MEXICAN FENDER JAZZ BASS ALL ALONG!!!! I can do more in the future if you'd really like? Honestly? It was half and half.
RichZbaraski
Both pickups were on, and the modifications were a gotoh bridge and some better wiring, so only subtle stuff.
4 Strings
That's brilliant, now we know what a Jazz on both pickups sounds like, thanks, Rich. Any other offers of tracks gratefully received, anyone else want post some too?
xgsjx
Nice track, very FNM sounding (which is a good thing).
