N64Lover
I just received a new cabinet this morning, a Markbass 104HF, and I am itching to try it. However, I am using it with an EA iamp350 which only has jack outputs. I am wondering if it is okay to use a jack to jack speaker cable in the speakon input on the cab? The cable does fit in there and I will be using it a low volume for now until I can get a jack to speakon (or ideally a new head, it's for sale). What do you think? xgsjx
It depends if the socket on the cab is a dual Speakon/Jack socket or not. I think MB uses these though, but check the MB site.
N64Lover
I had a look there, I can seem to find any info.
xgsjx
I had a look too, there's nowt. Well there's a few MB cab users on here, so you should get your answer soon.
warwickhunt
If it fits then it'll work. Speakon connectors are a doddle to fit so just unsolder one of your jacks and fit the connector.
N64Lover
Great, thanks! No time for soldering right now, must...play...with...new...toy.
BassBus
Or you could just go to your local Maplins and buy one of these. Stewart
Or get an adaptor: http://www.studiospares.com/adaptors/neutrik-speakon-4pin-14-jack/invt/578790/
pete.young
My Markbass head has a dual speakon/jack speaker output, so I would imagine they fit the same things to the speaker cabs.
EdwardHimself
Interesting my MarkBass cab has seperate jack and speakon inputs so I presume they must have retained that sort of functionality for the newer ones.
Mr. Foxen
Some speakons take a jack in the midle, if they don't, the jack won't fit.
N64Lover
I tried it at low volume and it seems to work fine. I just wasn't sure if it would do any damage or not.
andydye
As above, there are 2 types of speakon that I know of, one where there's a hole that a jack fits in and one with no hole...
pietruszka
I have a 104 HR, and it has 2 jack inputs and a speakon. Is the HF version any different? And a Jack wont go into the speakon bit either (butters in the fridge!). Could you not just use jack-jack? I dont think they'll be any difference ion volume/tone or any nonsense like that.
