OK, sorry about the sour grapes. Didn't mean anything by it. Just hoping you have never had all your tone inexorably banished. If you have, here's an idea on a way to find it again, and at louder volumes. I'm not skirting the issue, am I?

That is some interesting information. I've attached some photos of the caps that I've been experimenting with. I wonder how long it would take to figure out a way to mass produce these today? I've taken a few of these caps apart, and they don't have any glue holding the film to the foil like the ones in the link you mentioned.
