Bassist on the Run
Why is this? My new bass a fender aerodyne has a serial number which places it to being made 94/95 yet the bass was not on sale untill 2000 Any comments would be greatly appreciated
Telebass
The Fender Japan serials keep getting re-used. My "87" JD Telecaster was in fact a '96, for example, and was not available in 87 anyway!

Musky
It's a T serial number isn't it? 2008-09 models always begin T + 0 + another five digits and have MADE IN JAPAN (all caps).
Bassist on the Run
It's t038117
Musky
Yeah, all the 2008 T serials started with a 0 after it, but confusingly some of the nineties ones did as well. Added to which MIJ decals have resurfaced in the last few years - nobody's sure exactly why this is, but may mean that FujiGen is manufacturing for Fender Japan again. If your bass has 'made in japan' in bold lettering it's a newer one. Edit: Doh! You already said it's an Aerodyne so it has to be 2008. But yeah, japanese fender serials have been getting a little confusing over the last few years. Edited February 5, 2012 by Musky
