Spoombung Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 This by Marleaux. I can see it's got it's origins in the Ritter bass (with the fingerboard traveling up through the body) but all the same - stunning. Quote
EBS_freak Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 Member here "basstard" had the first one made (he's actually pictured in the catalogue - http://www.marleaux-bass.de/fileadmin/download/Marleaux_Catalogue_2012.pdf ). It's a beauty. Not sure about the control knobs... they look cool in the pictures, not so good up in the flesh but an amazing instrument all the same. Quote

EBS_freak Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 (edited) He's in Stafford and bought the bass unplayed direct from Marleaux. The only collection of Marleauxs I have seen have been at the Bass Day in Manchester... I think Promenade Music in Morecambe are the UK dealers - http://www.promenade...Promenade-Music Edited February 7, 2012 by EBS_freak Quote
EBS_freak Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 Marleaux, Marleauxs... hmm... what's the plural? Quote
charic Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 Looks very similar to an ACG Gallus (sp?) crossed with a Sandberg Quote
Very true - the trouble is now, with so many bass designs out there, it's becoming increasingly difficult to come up with something that looks radically different to those basses that have already been created! Originality is becoming increasingly difficult, especially when you have to build in the characterists of what makes a bass balance and comfortable (e.g. strap fixing point and hence usually the top horn, above the 12th fret). lettsguitars Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 cool bass. not keen on these hollowed out forearm contours you see quite a bit now. Quote
EBS_freak Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 Agreed - I think I first saw that on Wal and thought it was hideous. I suppose the choice of woods determines how obvious it is. Quote
lettsguitars Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 When i first noticed these i thought there must have been some awful tearout that had to be carved out. A lot of design 'developments' come from material failure. Quote
gary mac Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 It is an impressive piece of design, although I can only imagine the reaction of my band mates if I turned up with one for the next pub gig Quote

BigRedX Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 The continuous fingerboard owes more than a little to the Marleaux Pagelli bass Quote

Stunning bass. Are the electronics the same as/similar to the Human Base Roxy? Maybe its just me? Edited February 9, 2012 by Mog Quote
Chris2112 Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 I'm sure Leduc have done a bass with the extended fingerboard like that too, before Ritter did. Quote
