For the bridge we found it's possible to get away with one of those little cement mixers - no-one seems to notice!

ead
At the risk of being flamed to death.... Many of these are the reason(s) that I'm either in an originals band... Or not in a band at all. I understand that these may be as a part of lucrative function/covers band arrangement.... But I'd just stand there and play it like a zombie. For some reason, I only enjoy playing something that I've had some input into, for better or worse. In the last band I was in, we did "All along the Watchtower..." and I hated it. Quite obviously my mileage varies significantly... And limits (severely) my ability to find a band...
As a band we have made the decision to play as much of our own stuff as we think we can get away with. This means sets will vary from 100% own brand to maybe 70% covers. At a recent gig where we were playing about 50/50 we got asked to play more of our original material which was great - so not all doom and tribute bands! neepheid
I don't suppose a lot of this makes much sense as we're predominantly an originals band, with a few covers sprinkled in, but hey ho. Neanderthal Blues Economic Migrant Blues North All The Same Day Dreamin' Now That You're Gone Boy Angus Is A Dreamer A Credit To This World The Lang Reel O' Collieston The Fisherman Sings (Oh And He Sings) Driven To Dance Desert Covers: Bring Down The Birds - Herbie Hancock Goo Goo Barabajagal - Donovan I Feel Like A Child - Devendra Banhart Louie Louie - The Kingsmen 007 (Shanty Town) - Desmond Dekker We often like to end with Louie Louie, getting progressively faster until the drummer decides he's had enough

spinynorman
The thing about 'Mustang Sally' is... everyone seems to do the Commitments version, which is crap IMHO. The 1965 Wilson Pickett original is in a different key, different tempo, has an entirely different bass line, and is well groovy. And of course, no-one sings it like Mr Pickett... Edit: The very first pic that shows before you hit 'Play'... see who that is on guitar?
