razze06 Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 Have you noticed? No less than three bands (including ours - guilty as charged) were practicing this last night, and that's just at the practice room place we use (The Depot in Edinburgh). I blame the acoustic version! I'm trying to push for a stripped down reggae version of it, should spice it up a little Quote
chris_b Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 I'd never heard this number until we had to learn it for a function just before Christmas. It was easy to learn and play and I liked it. The audience went mad for it, so I'd suggest it's a great number for a cover band. Quote
razze06 Posted February 7, 2012 Author Posted February 7, 2012 I also kind of like it, just wondering how the hell is it that EVERY covers band seems to be doing it now Quote
LiamPodmore Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 I love it, but my band doesn't play it, might be a good suggestion though. Liam Quote
Muzz Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 Very weird, over the weekend I was looking for a song to learn to show my 6-year old so he can play along (on his keyboard at the mo, but the bass is sitting there waiting its day), and out of the blue I decided Price Tag would be good. It might be the phase of the moon, or something in the water... Quote
Oopsdabassist Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 What is this strange song of which you all speak? Quote
charic Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 Yep, another one that's never heard of it Quote
razze06 Posted February 7, 2012 Author Posted February 7, 2012 It is clearly a problem with North Edinburgh water supply then Quote
Marvin Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012
What is this strange song of which you all speak?
This http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMxX-QOV9tI My covers band doesn't do it and never will. Our singer point blank refuses. Good for her I say. Quote
lettsguitars Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 oh. some shallow pop nonsense then. Quote
Marvin Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 (edited)
We're not all so lucky, Marvin
You say that but you haven't seen/heard some of the crap she does want to do I'd quite willingly play it if...it was because I was in Jessie J's band . Otherwise any time I've heard a cover of it it hasn't really worked very well. Edited February 7, 2012 by Marvin Quote
Rayman Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 Ha. We thought we were being "cutting edge" by learning this one, but apparently not! Seems like you're all doing it. We've also just put in "Pounding" by Doves and "Sweet Disposition" by Temper Trap. They work quite well along side the usual Chilis and Foos stuff. Quote
EdwardHimself Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 (edited) I hate that song. If I do a cover version I would do it in the style of something completely different. Edited February 7, 2012 by EdwardHimself Quote

yorick Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 Still haven't heard it......................................................... Quote
leftyhook Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 We do it as part of a medley. dropped it for a while...but it has crept back in. I enjoy it. Muting strings and it's a great one for testing your tightness with the bashy one in the band. Quote
KiOgon Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 Bet none of you's got the legs for it though Quote
What took you so long? We learnt it for a music festival last summer. Still use it for the odd party gig, the punters seem to like it. I think it's quite enjoyable to play, secret is not to overdo it. Quote

Rich Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012

I guess if we were talking about Blue In Green or Straight No Chaser rather than Price Tag, the sheep would all be wearing berets..? Quote
