Mossy205
Im new to the Bass guitar scene and I need a good Combo amp to start off with and maybe do small gigs with when I'm up to scratch. I'm looking for a kings of Leon type sound & heard maybe Ashdown or Ampeg is the way to go. Any other recommendations? Thanks.
Lozz196
Both makes will give that kind of sound, though to be honest, so will most makes. Combo-wise, Trace Elliot are very good - have a very loud sound for their size, though they can be a bit on the heavy side. It depends on your budget mainly, as to what recommendations people can provide. The main thing is, if you buy used off of here, you`ll get much more for your money than if bought new. Plus, you can research the make/model on here, and get a good idea of whether it will suit or not.
gjones
An Ashdown EB 180 is a fantastic amp for a beginner. Cheap, reliable, light and LOUD! It has a compressor built in too. You can play at bedroom levels with it and at rock gig levels (and I have...with loud drummers). I own it's big brother now but I still take my EB out to smaller gigs and it sounds great! And the great thing is you can buy one secondhand for £100 probably from this very forum. Dave Tipping
An Ampeg BA115 is what you ate after! Great little amp, plenty of volume for gigging ans nice ampeg tone.
