ok so ages ago i saw some vid of an American bass player, black dude, playing a Spector i think, with really odd technique where he has his bass well high and his right hand reaches up from under the body playing kinda upside down..... you've probably seen him before on youtube etc, but i can't for the life of me remember his name or seem to find him on google....

I guess it's one of those things. If you approached a bass, without knowing how you were [i]supposed[/i] to hold it, I imagine his cradling would be reasonably intuitive. It reminds me of the an old rifle sling.

There are quite a few videos on Youtube where he explains how his style developed, well worth a look.
