Pow_22 Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Ive been loaned this amp short-term while i try and sort my rig out. I know its output is 200w but i dont know if this is at 4 or 8 ohms. As my current cab is a 4ohm one am i getting the most out of this amp or should i be running it with an 8ohm one to get the full 200w? Quote
voxpop Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Running a 4ohm cab will give you the full output of 200 watts. Quote
Pow_22 Posted February 10, 2012 Author Posted February 10, 2012
Cheers, thats what i thought but the sound tech was unsure and seemed to think its 200w at 8ohm. Thanks for clearing it up
Quote
voxpop Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 If your so called sound tech does not know this simply answer best sack him. Quote
Pow_22 Posted February 10, 2012 Author Posted February 10, 2012 Definately! The amps a wierd one that i cant find any info on. Its not an AH one, it just says GP12 Series 6 on it. Seems loud enough but could it be just a pre-amp? Quote
voxpop Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 If it was a preamp you could not plug speakers into it. I use the ah200 and it sounds loud enough for most situations. The old trace series 6 amps the very best they made. Great build quality and sound..... Remember these are around 15 - 20 years old and still going strong. You can't say that for most of today's poorly built kit. I love mine. Quote
