hiram.k.hackenbacker
UGH! what a waste of a 4001CS
Quite. Don't get me wrong, The Bee Gees have written some classics, but I don't love 'em enough to do that to a CS.
Stacker
Wonder why he did that? I know someone on Prickresource did this to an old V63 or somesuch. Can't figure why you'd do that to a CS unless it's taken some damage.
hairyhaw
Looks like it might be something to do with Pete out of Seyes. He used to actually own Maurice's RM1999 if I remember. Though it would have been nice to see the vermillion wings kept, I don't see anything wrong with the colour. The cream was prone to colour bleed from guitar stands anyway and as someone else mentioned it may have seen heavy gigging action. Doesn't look like a '91 though; headstock shape suggests post '97. waynepunkdude
What did he do?
Stacker
Plus, if he's gone to that much trouble, why didn't he get the neck, headstock and upper horn reshaped to the RM1999 spec? That guitar will have the fatter neck than the earlier CS and V63 models.
Stacker
TBH, I've got a fat-neck V63 that has considerable stand-damaged and coincidentally I'm sending it over to Jimmy Moon in Glasgow later in the year to get it reshaped and resprayed off-white but I'll keep the wings on the headstock visible. Stacker
Actually, if you look at it again, the pic withe the bass upright ona chair, it appears to have the longer 'cresting wave'. Edited February 13, 2012 by Stacker

Stacker
It is PG's. Sale is also on Prickresource. Refinishing was done due to blemishes, as surmised by Hairyhaw. But I woulda defo left the wings visible.
Stacker
He's also got a fat-neck V63FG up there for sale, and at a reasonable price, too!
That's actually a really good price considering V63's tend to go for silly money. I'd consider myself....if I wasn't skint!
