hiram.k.hackenbacker Posted February 12, 2012 Author Posted February 12, 2012
UGH! what a waste of a 4001CS
Quite. Don't get me wrong, The Bee Gees have written some classics, but I don't love 'em enough to do that to a CS. Quote
Stacker Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Wonder why he did that? I know someone on Prickresource did this to an old V63 or somesuch. Can't figure why you'd do that to a CS unless it's taken some damage. Quote
hairyhaw Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Looks like it might be something to do with Pete out of Seyes. He used to actually own Maurice's RM1999 if I remember. Though it would have been nice to see the vermillion wings kept, I don't see anything wrong with the colour. The cream was prone to colour bleed from guitar stands anyway and as someone else mentioned it may have seen heavy gigging action. Doesn't look like a '91 though; headstock shape suggests post '97. Quote
Stacker Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Plus, if he's gone to that much trouble, why didn't he get the neck, headstock and upper horn reshaped to the RM1999 spec? That guitar will have the fatter neck than the earlier CS and V63 models. Quote
Stacker Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 TBH, I've got a fat-neck V63 that has considerable stand-damaged and coincidentally I'm sending it over to Jimmy Moon in Glasgow later in the year to get it reshaped and resprayed off-white but I'll keep the wings on the headstock visible. Stacker Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 (edited) Actually, if you look at it again, the pic withe the bass upright ona chair, it appears to have the longer 'cresting wave'. Edited February 13, 2012 by Stacker Quote

Stacker Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 It is PG's. Sale is also on Prickresource. Refinishing was done due to blemishes, as surmised by Hairyhaw. But I woulda defo left the wings visible. Quote
Stacker Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 He's also got a fat-neck V63FG up there for sale, and at a reasonable price, too!
That's actually a really good price considering V63's tend to go for silly money. I'd consider myself....if I wasn't skint! Quote
Oopsdabassist Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 But..but..it was a CS....doing that to a CS is sacrilige, go mess up a normal Ric fine, but not one made in Homage to Mr Squire Quote

Stag Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Yes, it *was* a CS... But i like it in white... I wouldnt have done it to my CS if I owned one tho! Quote
thegreenman555 Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Surely to god it would've been worth more as an original CS?! Sacrilege!! Quote
