Geek99
I have a 93 jazz cij - its a 62 reissue in sunburst. I thinks it's the lower spec jap pickup version The body is pretty battered due to a previous owner and I'd like it to look better. It would probably need to go back to bare wood Can anyone advise: Is it likely a nitro finish ? Will a polyester respray look much different ? Quote is £150 Should I just get another, preferably jap, sunburst body ? Brandoni £130 What would you do ? I'm not planning to sell but might one day if Abs necessary Edited February 12, 2012 by Geek99
Blademan_98
Sell it as 'roadworn' and buy a new one! It's probably worth more battered than done up tbh. Can you post a picture?
Geek99
Short version is , I chipped off a little paint fitting pickups, person before me managed to lose a big chunk of paint/lacquer down to the wood on lower bout then sprayed with car paint. Needs sanding back to make it ok
Blademan_98
Ah, ok. If you are doing it because you want a good looking bass then I would go for the Nitro if you can afford it. Yes, it will look different as Nitro has it's own 'look'. Personally, I would just let it age and in 10 years it will probably be worth a fortune It is a personal thing. I don't like artifical worn basses. Ones that get there naturally are superb. I would not refinish any of my basses as they are what they are. I understand why you want to and therefore, go for it! Nitro all the way
margusalviste
My experience tells that nitro lets the body vibrate better and therefore makes the sound much better. So NITRO all the way!
Geek99
Ok - anybody know a good nitro sprayer in the midlands? I suppose I could Also just buy a cheap sunburst body and keep the old one as is.
