I would like to get started on recording a bit of guitar and bass (and vocals) using Reaper and my Macbook Pro. Can anyone recommend a not-too-expensive USB interface that I can plug bass/guitars/a mic into? I'm thinking around the 200 quid mark, but open to suggestions above and below that. I've seen people using TASCAM units before.

I'm not looking for super professional quality, as we have a good recording set up in our rehearsal studio, this is just something for solo projects.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

It's a great little box.
As a bonus it comes with a version of Studio One,
A total gapless Daw - it might turn your head a bit and turn you on to the full version....
It really is the easiest DAW of them all to use.

Another great unit to recommend...
Roland Quad Capture.

This works a treat for me

Great sound and crystal clear results every time - I've had mine (I use the 18i6 version) for about 8 months and it's been a star performer in my set up - highly recommended

Thanks everyone. I think I'll go with the Presonus. We have an 8 input Saffire for "bigger" recordings. i'm not overly concerned with vocals, since I'll be mainly doing instrumentals/sketches to share with the band. I like the idea of Cubase LE too (which is bundled) since we do most of our mixing/production in Cubase proper.

Is it not their own DAW [Studio One] bundled with the Presonus ?

Its cheap and cheerful and i think it will do anything you wont! it has 4 inputs total and midi which could be useful inly about £130 quid to :)

Ah, yes, it has Studio One - the reviews I read must have been out of date. O_o

And it is great. Enjoy.
