RaNoFuNkY Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 Hi all! Been on this site for a few weeks now, just occurred to me that I haven't sent out a big hello yet. *apologies* My names Bert, I'm at uni in oxford (*ahem...thats oxford brookes) but home is Windsor. I'm currently playing electric bass in a hiphop/funk band (www.hangmancharlie.co.uk) at uni and in a blues/rock band (www.brockandthebadgers.co.uk) with my father and gary numan's old drummer (tubeway army era) around the Windsor area. Sorry for any shameless plugs....unintentional I promise. Despite the slings and arrows of outrageous financial misfortune at present (being a student and all), I support the ethic of all good musicians; "I want two of everything". Consequently, I have amassed a small collection of basses, but I most enjoy sporting my customised Fender Urge I (mim) live and my Kubicki Ex-Factor 4 in the studio through either a Peavey 450W stack or my Trace 350 combo. Current pedal board includes EBS Multicomp, Dunlop 105Q Bass Wah, Akai Deep Impact, MXR Microamp, Artec Big Dots Tuner, and Zvex Woolly Mammoth. Influences and heros include: Jack Bruce, Stu Hamm, Flea, Victor Wooten, Andy Fraser, Stanley Clarke, Jean Jacques Burnel, Leo Lyons, John Entwistle, Larry Graham, Abe Laboriel and 'Nard Edwards. I'd like to say that I'm an average to competent funk/rock bassist, but I'm sure I'll be put to shame by everyone on here. That's ok, I tell myself thats its not the notes you play, but the notes you don't.........although people seem to be much better at that too! Always looking for new gear, people to jam with and musicians to talk to about geeky bass business. So hit me back! Many thanks to all the guys I've already met on here too, you've been a real help Ta B Quote
Dood Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 Hi again Bert! Well, here's an official welcome and hello then!!! Quote
paul, the Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 Howdy Bert. Nice intro. Hope you dig the forum. Quote
RaNoFuNkY Posted April 8, 2008 Author Posted April 8, 2008 Ta guys! btw Dood, I curl up to my EBS MultiComp every night. The only way that pedal could be better would be: 1. If it came with a wal mark 2 or SC's alembic attached. 2. If it came with KT Tunstall attached. Top stuff, keep up the good work guys! 'Preciate it Bert Quote
clauster Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 (edited) So your drummer'll be Jess Lidyard then? Welcome to Basschat!! Edited April 9, 2008 by clauster Quote
RaNoFuNkY Posted April 9, 2008 Author Posted April 9, 2008 That's the lad! I just wikipedia'd him, and there's a lovely little plug for our band on there! Praises for whoever wrote it! Quote
