big rob Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Can I adjust the gain inside the amp, I am plugging in active basses with high outputs but i have to crank the gain up to 10 just to get in the ok but only when playing really hard. Can anyone help! Big Rob Quote
LukeFRC Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 1- try with other bass, try your bass in other amp 2- try with other lead 3- what level is the master volume? at? 4- try depressing any active/passive switch, run it for passive 5- does it sound good not in the okay light? leave it. Quote
MarkG3 Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Pretty much what's been said but try, Different bass Different leads - including speaker leads Press the active/passive button to see if that helps Different cab or amp incase its the cab Have you changed the battery in your bass if its active? mep Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Jesus, on 10 and not loud enough. You must have a serious problem. I rarely turn my AH200 above 1 1/2 and even then I'm quite often told I'm too loud! Quote
big rob Posted February 17, 2012 Author Posted February 17, 2012 Will try a new lead. It sounds fine but the valve is not being driven enough. So sounds not very dirty even full up. Quote
big rob Posted February 17, 2012 Author Posted February 17, 2012 Mep, I'm talking about the gain, I'm not mad!!! I would break the foundation of my house on 10 volume. Quote
thepurpleblob Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 What sort of bass are we talking about. My Musicman basses (even the 18V Bongo) have very low outputs. A passive Precision will blow them into the dust. In fact - rather counter intuitively - I have found that passive basses fairly consistently have higher outputs than actives. Quote
