Clarky
Incredibly rare hand-made instrument based off the Ampeg fretless electric bass of the 1960s (most famously played by Rick Danko). These would cost over $5000 new to import into the UK. I bought it from Dave Swift in mint condition and it comes with a huge aluminium flight case (hence meet-up only). The project I bought it for has foundered and so I am selling this very particular instrument. It comes into its own emulating a double bass. The porn thread below has pictures and a sound clip from Bruce Johnson. I am in London. I'm after £2300. Clarky
Travelling back from hols today so will weigh exactly tomorrow. My guess is about 10 lb
Clarky
Well, my estimation was complete rubbish. With a strap on, it weighs almost exactly 11 pounds. It balances very well and is not neck-heavy - I am guessing because of the heavy cast bridge parts (much of which are hidden from view within the body). I think its balance is why I initially guessed at a lighter weight (I have a recurrent lower back problem and a rotator cuff problem in my left shoulder so I normally can't take a bass of >10 pounds). Beedster
As your selling nemesis mate i strongly suggest you keep it. Firstly because you don't know what your next project will be (could be a Band/Danko tribute....?), and secondly I want to buy it and your withdrawing it would help me out a lot. Seems the right bass for you, keep it and build the next project around it. C PS apologies for once again voicing my opinions without invitation
Clarky
Nice try Chris (Band tribute, yeah right!) Truth is I have a lot of money tied up in a bunch of instruments I bought specifically for the vibe of my former band and would frankly rather have the cash right now. Do I need two fretless basses and two double basses. I think not

Clarky
Further re weight, if I were to take off the comfort strap and some strips of Scratchpad protector felt off the back (which I applied as its minty and I didn't want to add buckle rash), it would come in a little below 11 pounds. As you can see from the specs on the website (below), the target weight is nearer 10 pounds. Also note that Bruce Johnson added an extra inch to the scale length, versus the original Ampeg 34", in order to give it more double-bass like tonal character.
