73Jazz
Due to the high price of the original sennheiser attachement for the microphone clamp (MZA 421 44,- euro) I am looking for an alternative solution to fix the mic infront of my fridge. Do you have some recommendations, another mic clamp that will hold the Md421 or maybe another solution? I want to avoid using duck tape:) Thanks in advance guys Edited February 19, 2012 by 73Jazz
Davebassics
I once snapped a 421 clip and resorted to using an elastic band around the stand. I don't know of a alternative clip.
crez5150
Just stick it to the side of the cooker
paul_5
The 421 clips are a complete 'fail' item. They're flimsy and easy to mistakenly unclip, sending your lovely, expensive microphone bouncing off the drum head (or worse, onto the floor). Rubber band or cable ties would do it at a pinch, but I've never had one broken so I wouldn't know
Matt P
how about this? http://www.flickr.com/photos/rycote/4708580237/in/set-72157622938773315 http://www.rycote.com/products/invision_studio/ http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=rycote+usm-l&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a#q=rycote+usm-l&hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=Foc&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&prmd=imvns&source=univ&tbm=shop&tbo=u&sa=X&psj=1&ei=YzVFT_uwDqnF0QX9p7GMBA&ved=0CE0QrQQ&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&fp=7a4c02153ade1456&biw=1280&bih=860 (all 3 are the same thing, first one is a pic with the md421 fitted, the second is the manufacturers site, 3rd should be Google page with prices and sellers) not the cheapest around but looks pretty good, they claim virtually unbreakable (but they would) but i guess it would fit a wide range of mic's so fairly versatile Matt
73Jazz
Wow, very nice indeed. Thank you for hat recommendation..but i was looking for a less pro version, even less pricey as the original sennheiser one. But i have seen similar mic spiders for around 10 euro i think, i may give them a try. Thank you very much
Monckyman
The clips for 421s are indeed crap. You can use matchsticks jammed under the release mechanism to prevent them opening but the work loose over time leading to the inevitable bounce off the floor tom. Worth it though for the sound
