How to boost your bass presence higher up the fretboard?

Ok so I'm pretty new to bass but have a kickass rig - Markbass 1x15, 4x10, ampeg SVT III pro, fender 50th anniversary P-Bass... I play in a classic rock band playing in Drop C#. My rig sounds wicked and fat on the E string (refering to standard tuning for ease) right up the fret board but as I move on to the A string and beyond the 7th fret I loose loads of bass and volume. The pickup configuration looks ok (as far as I can tell as a guitarist normally). How can I compensate for this?

Grateful for any tips

As above, get a compressor, and set your amp to where you get the sounds you want on the higher notes, then set the compression to reduce the excess boom on the lower notes.

Plus, on the Precision Pickup, on the screw nearest the E string, try a half turn clockwise, and see if that eliminates this. Ideally, what you`re after is reducing the E output to the same as all the others, then upping the eq to making all strings sound the same.
