Truckstop Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 That actually looks not bad at all! I thought his other signature model looked like someone had sneezed glitter all over a star-shaped bass that had been built by a man with one arm. Truckstop Quote
Roland Rock Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 It's good that it's a proper departure from stock Warwicks. The last Warwick one seemed like a lazy attempt to Bootsify an Infinity imo. As far as price is concerned, maybe £4.5k? Quote
chilievans Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 That's the most shockingly awful bass I've ever had the misfortune of looking at Quote
pietruszka Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Doesn't look too bad, If you consider who plays it! I reckon it'll cost you your first born. In all seriousness, about the same as the Zender bass. Dan Quote
LukeFRC Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 dunno about the star bass but the article on the fretboard making machines further down that link are pretty interesting Quote
MacDaddy Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 It will look cool when Bootsy is playing it. Quote
charic Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 I'm curious as to why they bothered with a tigerstripe ebony board.... Quote
mart Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 (edited) From the Warwick pricelist (off their website):
Boots Collins Signature, 4-string, Orange Airbrush Design / Metal flake lacquer £5.779,00
Edit: Whoops, no, that's the old one. In that case, I'd guess the new one is probably very close to £10k. Edited February 21, 2012 by mart Quote
shizznit Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 There's only one person who will play a Bootsy Star Bass and won't look like a prat...Bootsy himself! Quote

visog Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 5 EMGs! Will the strings move at all in that magnetic field denser than a black hole? Does anyone in Warwick do consumer product testing? Between the Bootsy, Zender and Streamer single-cut, I think they've a global market of about 5 people. (... but only 2 people can afford them.) Quote
shizznit Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 I like this part of the specs...

Pickguard: Special Custom Mirror Pickguard
Well, duh!? What other features of this bass aren't 'custom'? Quote

BigRedX Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 No 5-string version? At least Traben produced a 5-string. I think it says a lot when IMO that could be the least ugly bass Warwick have ever produced! Quote

Bo0tsy Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 This is coming from someone who owns a Washburn Space Bass, but that Warwick model is seriously OTT and just a little tacky. Will be interesting to see if Bootsy actually plays it on stage (he usually plays a Traben Bootsy Star thesedays). Ashamed to say I actually stil kinda like the Warwick, it's much better than that other standard shaped signature model they had out, but won't be trading in my Washburn anytime soon. Quote
GregHughes Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Holy sh*t. I'm not sure even Bootsy could pull off looking cool playing that. Quote
