far0n Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 The usual Tuesday meander down to the local auction house... quite a few guitars there today... nothing particularly special... Marlin Guitar, Tanglewood bass etc... then I clocked eyes on this unusual beast... A Hohner Arbor MX1. Not seen one before, looks like twin humbuckers to me. Interesting find I thought. All info and opinions welcome as usual. One day I might find that pink 62 Jazz the missus accidentally flogged a few years back Quote
Muzz Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Wow, that looks like it was designed by someone who has had a Stingray described to them down the phone, but had never actually seen one... Quote
far0n Posted February 21, 2012 Author Posted February 21, 2012
Very interesting. What did it go for?
No idea, the auction house is open all day so the public can browse the items but you have to turn up on the evening to find out. Quote
pete.young Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 How strange, what have they done with the G-string, wrapped it round the string tree? Quote
Jam Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 I have an MX2, similar looking but less stingray esque. Really hard to find any info on it at all! Quote
hairyhaw Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 Won one of these for fifty quid on eBay and it was delivered a half hour ago. Know nothing about them so a google search turns up this thread and looking at the dings in the photos it's the same bass! Funny old world. Quote
Kubik Smrk Smrcek Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 do you anyone know, what is the profile of the neck on these basses?? Is it like P or JB ?? or like on some hohners somwhere between them?? Quote
stingrayPete1977 Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013
Wow, that looks like it was designed by someone who has had a Stingray described to them down the phone, but had never actually seen one...
I can see a lot of Sabre in there, I thought that head stock was copywrited to musicman too? Quote
Roland Rock Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Surely having a headstock attached to the neck at the 12th fret must get in the way a bit ;-) Quote
tonybassplayer Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Looks like a lovely bass for only fifty quid to me. Quote
